Welcome to the Abernathy ISD website!  This summer has been quite hectic at AISD.  The renovation of the High School Campus is underway as is the construction of the new gym and high school classroom addition.  This is phase one of the $15.9 million bond that was passed in May of 2009.  The architects are busy beginning the design of phase two which will include a new fieldhouse, weight room, and vacational ag classrooms.  Hopefully, the principals' office will be ready when school starts on August 23rd.  The renavation of existing classrooms should be completed in October.    The renovation of the north/south wing of the high school will begin in October.  All renovation should be completed by the Christmas break.  Classes will be held in the library and in several Jr. High classrooms during this time. The new gym and classrooms are scheduled to be completed by June 7, 2011.  Other improvements this summer include a new track surface and new scoreboard for the football field.  Both of these should be installed by the beginning of school.

Our principals and teachers have been busy this summer going to training on our new curriculum, C-SCOPE.  All staff are excited about this curriculum and are looking forward to its implementation.  One of the main reasons for this curriculum is to prepare for the new state assessments called the STAAR.  All new staff have been hired and all staff will begin work on Monday, August 16.
